* Note - this park is closed Wednesdays.
*Beautiful sandy beach with shade trees. Experienced swimmers and snorkelers suggested - water can be rough and have currents.
* Access is by a rough gravel & rock road - typically 4WD is required. Many regular rental cars donate their mufflers here to recycle.

This Hawaii State Park area has no lifeguards, no restrooms, no picnic tables and no drinking water. The Hawaii State Parks department should be embarrassed to have their name at the entrance.

Disturb or touch them and you will go to jail.

* The north end of the park (Kua Bay) is more developed and accessible. It's an example of what could / should be done to
this southern part of the park.
* Nearby Makalawena is a 20 minute walk north.

Kekahakai Kona state park access road

Directions: 2.6 miles north of Kona airport. The 1.5 mile road is gravel with deep potholes and ruts.
Kona123 advises NOT using a 2wd car - use 4wd ONLY.
